Prepare to Worship October 11-12

Where last week we learned about “Helping Others,” this week we will learn about “Helping Yourself!” No, this is not an all-you-can-eat buffet, but Jason Christ is speaking in Pastor’s absence and he decided to launch off of last week’s message. (BTW – you can help with the sermon on his blog!) In this day of self-help books and do-it-yourself projects, we as Christians need to remember that our only true help comes from God. Through prayer, bible study, worship, and strong Christian friendships God provides all the help we need for any and all situations in life.

Scripture readings this week are:
Old Testament:  2 Samuel 11: 1-4a
New Testament:  Ephesians 3: 14-21
Gospel:  John 14: 1-6

Many fun songs this week, including “Salt and Light” that we introduced last weekend. Worship will focus on God as our eternal help and a solid foundation, drawing us into His presence so that He can provide for us. Oh yeah: if you are planning to attend the Saturday night service, Matt Stoerr will be moving out from behind the drums to lead worship while I attend a wedding in Fredonia, NY.

If you are starting to think of feedback, some of the things I look for are: balance in the sound (what you can and cannot hear), how the voices and instruments meshed (or not!), anything that was distracting to worship, anything that made the worship great. Some of the feedback I’ve gotten in the past few weeks has been really helpful…so keep it coming!

Sunday
Gathering:  “Salt and Light”
Opening:    “Everlasting God”
                   “And I Love You”

Saturday
Opening:   “Here is Our King”
                  “Everlasting God”

Closing:     “You’re Worthy of My Praise”

  1. Thanks, Tracy. It was fun to play – I’m good for rockin’ out once and a while. Nice to hear that it compared with the CD.

  2. I thought “Salt & Light” was great last week! We have the CD from Jaime’s concert here and it was a great rockin’ rendition.

  3. LOL – that is awesome! I love it when those songs get stuck in our heads. It’s far better than the junk that sometimes gets stuck in mine!!

Glad you get to worship all week long! :)

  4. I have been “singing” Salt & Light in my head all week!– Nice to know something is in there! Ha!
