Well, I’ve finally decided to join the ranks of Jason, Sue, and Pastor as a blogging staff member at First Trinity. Actually, I decided to do this several months ago, but time has not been on my side! So, why blog if there is no time? I like to write…a lot. Not only do I really enjoy writing, but I also have a tendancy to use a lot of words. Just ask any band member who recieves my wordy emails regularly. Frequently, even! It seemed that blogging would be a good exercise in brevity…and I could use the practice!
Inside Worship is intended to provide information on our weekly contemporary services; promote discussion/feedback on worship; and let you know my heart, thoughts, and experiences as a worship leader. In addition to regaular posts, I plan to follow the example of Sue’s Sunday Night Mind Dump and Pastor’s Moments from the Weekend in publishing a weekly Worship Debrief to celebrate and review our worship experience. Due to time constraints, Inside Worship will only be published 2-3 times a week (roughly every 2-3 days). If able, I will write more.
I’m looking forward to the opportunity to communicate in a new way with band members, the congregation and, hey, maybe even the world! Look for vision; look for passion; look for theology; look for innovative and new ideas to keep our worship fresh. Above all, look for God to reveal Himself in the person of Jesus Christ as we gather in worship each weekend…and then be ready to talk it up!
[...] Debrief - 8/31/08 As mentioned in my original post, I will be publishing a weekly Worship Debrief of our two contemporary services. The goal is to [...]
Alicia – The services will always come first…well almost
This whole thing is going to be an exercise in juggling, and that’s not something I’ve learned very well.
As for the design of the page…the theme was picked as a whole. So, the comments in boxes was a by-product of that theme. There may be a way to chose that stuff separately…but I don’t know what it is. I have control of what shows on the right-side and what order it’s in…and I found that I have some control over the font the posts are in. That’s the extent of my knowledge to this point. Going forward, who knows…
Cathi – You and I are going to have to talk…I have some thoughts regarding writing that you can probably help me think through. Thanks for the comment!
Debbie – Thanks for stopping by! Hey all…subscription links are up now, thanks to Jason (see the separate post!)
I like the way your comments are in separate boxes and a lighter color than the background. Do you pick the format for everything? Are there choices when you set this stuff up? (I know nothing of the blogging or website setup.) Hey, just make sure blogging comes AFTER you send me those services!! haha–only kidding! Have fun with it.
Looks good Eric. Have fun writing! I totally “get” that…I love to write also.
Hey Eric,
Glad to see your blogging. I guess we truly are a Blogging Church now. Look forward to reading your thoughts in the future.
Hey – thanks to all for the comments. I’m really looking forward to this and will soon be wishing I had much more time to write both posts and responses! When you figure out how to get it all done, Debbie, let me know!!!
Joe, the only reason Pastor beat me is because I haven’t had a lot of time to get this running. That…and I think he was kind of roped into it.
For those looking for the subscribe buttons…I’m working on it. Jason’s offered the help. I just have to get with him to get it done. It’s a learning curve!
Nice to see you blogging with the best at FT! I’ll have to get up early just to have time to read everyone’s posts!
Eric – looking forward to your blog. I didn’t know that you like to write! Learned a new thing about you already. Would love to see a “subscribe by email” widget (if Pastor can do it, you can too! See Jason or Sue too as they have it too).
Hey, it looks like I can be ME as long as I log HIM out!
Yay!!
Welcome to the blogging world, Eric!! I am looking forward to your perspectives!!
What’s funny here is that the “other half” is actually ALSO ericwfesmire according to the comment author. Either it’s a split personality thing or you use the same computer.
Welcome to the mad world of blogging!
Welcome to the world of First Trinity blogs. I am excited to read it. Woohoo!
I like it!!!
As his “other half,” I can attest to his love of words. And he is a good listener, so this should a great place of conversation!
And his passion for worship and giftedness in that department are also a great gift to share.
I love you! I’m glad it is finally afloat!
Eric – congrats on coming into the 21st century! Who’da thunk you’d arrive after Pastor Chuck?!? Who’s next, Tim Hartnet???
Seriously, great idea and I think you’ll get some good feedback by doing this. I’ll get your links up on the web as soon as I get a chance.
